It’s Time To Say Goodbye

It is with mixed emotions that we announce our retirement and the official “goodbye” from Archipelago Wildlife Cruises. We feel privileged to have been able to share the beauty of the area, the wildlife, and the sense of community with friends, acquaintances, and tourists alike. We will miss Ukee.

A heartfelt thanks to the locals who informed guests of our service, year after year. You know who you are. It made all the difference. We’ve had lots of repeat guests, many of them locals, some who came more than ten times. This is a great compliment. Thank you ♥

It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Chef Ian Riddick and his team at the Heartwood Kitchen, who provided delicious gourmet meals for six years without a hiccup. It wouldn’t have been the same without you.

This has been a treasured chapter in our lives. We will be back to spend the summer cruising this area aboard the Raincoast Maiden. See you then and love you

In case anyone is wondering where we have been … We have been painting, oiling, waxing, polishing, and just generally pampering the Raincoast Maiden. This week we finally made the trip up the West coast, back to beautiful Barkley Sound. We are now in Ucluelet and will start running tours within the next few days (May 5th)

Covid-19 Update – June 2022

Where exactly are we at as far as Covid-19 precautions go?  Please read on to find out:

Masks

  • Masks are no longer mandated in public indoor settings in the province of BC.  This means that you are not required to wear a mask, either inside the cabin or outside.
  • There are free masks available if you prefer to wear a mask.
  • There is ONE EXCEPTION to this “rule”:  There will be a 15 minute orientation (inside the cabin) at the beginning of the tour.  We ask everyone to wear a mask during the orientation and can provide free masks if needed. Please let us know in advance if you have concerns about this.  If you do, we can seat you outside on the back deck (during the orientation only). We may update this policy depending on the situation at the time.

Cleaning and sanitising

  • We are continuing with extra cleaning and sanitizing duties before, during and after each tour.
  • Hand sanitizer is available at various locations on the boat.

Physical distancing/ space on the boat

  • Physical distancing is no longer required but there is enough room to keep some distance from others if you wish.
  • At lunch time tables will be set up outside and slightly apart to allow you to distance from others if you wish.
  • Please mention any concerns to us when you book, so that we can ensure your safety and comfort.

Most importantly

  • Please be mindful of other guests’ comfort level as some have good reason to be more cautious. That way we can all enjoy the day aboard our beautiful boat to its fullest!
  • Alan & Toddy (owner operators) are fully vaccinated.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard the “Raincoast Maiden”!

And so the 2022 Season has begun

Sights, Sounds and Smells to Look Forward To

Steller sea lions

Needless to say, we don’t take our guests ashore on this particular island. But if you do come on a tour with us we will show you this and other spectacular sights in beautiful Barkley Sound, June being a particularly good time to watch this “scene” unfold.

We hope to see you when the time is right 🙂

A Meal & Setting to Remember

The lunch alone is worth taking our trip for! The food is delicious (prepared by Heartwood Kitchen restaurant in Ucluelet), delivered to you in a wicker basket on a luxury yacht while anchored amidst the gorgeous scenery of the Broken Group Islands – for most of our guests this is a unique experience.

The Cobb salad is shown here – other choices are salmon or chicken and all of the menu options are finger licking good!  See the full menu here:  Gourmet Lunch Menu
