Orcas AND cake

Yesterday’s lucky guests were treated not only to a fabulous sighting of five Orcas but to also to delicious birthday cake!

Thanks to Barbara Lee, a regular guest, who knew it was the captain’s birthday and ordered a birthday cake for all to enjoy at lunch time while at anchor.  The cake, shaped like the Raincoast Maiden sailing off into the sunset, was masterfully crafted by Zoe’s Bakery in Ucluelet.

Barkley Sound – rugged and beautiful

Barkley Sound, the beautiful area our tours cruise through ….. rugged and always beautiful, rain or shine!

Time to relax!

We are now closed for the season! Time to relax…. and then get ready to do it all over again (starting May 2015).
Thanks to our guests and the community for your support.  We do appreciate it!

Not Alone

At least we’re not alone on our dock.
This lovely, old California Sea Lion has taken to guarding our boat!

Always Different But Always Beautiful

The Broken Group Islands – many moods but always beautiful!

Momma Bear

Yesterday’s tour started off by watching this beautiful momma bear and her cub turning over rocks on the beach, looking for crabs underneath.

Fabulous scenery and wildlife!

We have had many beautiful days out on the water since our season started in early May.  Although we are not seeing as many whales as we do in other years by this time, the trips have been lovely.  There is always lots of wildlife to see and the colours are fantastic at this time of year.

Home again!

After pampering the Raincoast Maiden for 3 months in a boat house in Sidney we made the trip up the coast this weekend. It was not the smoothest ride but we made it and are happy to be home in Ucluelet!  Our tours start beginning of May.

Nice and shiny

In an effort to keep up our boat we take on one or two “beautifying” projects each year. This year we decided to paint the house and cabin.  After many days of prep we finally got the first coat on and it looks great!  Two more coats and the job should be complete.
